Amartya Sen

Amartya Sen is an Indian economist and philosopher, who is renowned for his contributions to welfare economics, economic and social justice and his theories of famine, development, public health and well-being. He was the Master of Trinity College at the University of Cambridge and is currently a Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Harvard University. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1998 and India’s Bharat Ratna in 1999 for his work in welfare economics, and also received the 2020 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
