Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Meet the author behind the famous fictional character Sherlock Holmes. He was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a great writer, and a medical doctor by profession. He was born on May 22, 1859, in Edinburgh to a wealthy Irish family. Doyle’s profession was mostly practiced in a whaling boat where he worked as a surgeon and he had traveled as a medical officer on a steamer. He settled in Portsmouth and spent his time treating patients and writing novels. Among his works, Sherlock Holmes got the most public attention. He may have killed off Holmes, but the character lives on until today.
